Greene County will have to settle for a split in fall sports over rival Perry. The football team scored a convincing win over the Blue Jays in Jefferson Friday, but the volleyball team lost in four sets to the Jayettes in Jefferson Monday.
The non-conference match was the last of the regular season for coach Donna Carhill’s team. Scores were 19-25, 20-25, 25-10, 21-25.
Megan Durbin was perfect in 14 serves. She had 12 kills and 16 digs. Nadia Fisher was 16 of 17 serving with one ace and added 19 kills and 10 digs. Emily Heupel was 18 of 19 serving with one ace. Hannah Promes had 27 assists and 18 digs.
“We struggled with this match,” coach Donna Carhill said. “Perry seemed to find every hole in our defense and we just didn’t seem able to adjust. We did make an amazing recovery in the third game, playing confidently and aggressively.”
The Rams finished the regular season at 10-24 in games and 30-58 in sets. They play in a Class 3A Region 2 opening natch against Atlantic in Atlantic Tuesday night.
